Dr Judith Morgane

Honorary Appointment
Languages, Culture and Visual Studies

Judith Morgane is a multidisciplinary creative impresario, performer, stage director, and experienced creative writer with a passion for reimagining heritage through the arts. Specialising in Regietheater and musical theatre, historical re-enactment and community-led projects, her work blends bold storytelling, meticulous research, and innovative performance techniques to create imaginative and accessible productions that forge connections between diverse communities. She founded award-winning arts and heritage organisation Lightbear Lane to address the disconnect between the arts and hertiage and our everyday lives.

With a background in heritage management, Judith's recent focus has been on transforming heritage sites into dynamic arts and culture centres, championing access to the arts and promoting literacy through Engaged Learning practices.

Her academic background informs her creative practice, and she is currently an Honorary Research Fellow (2020-2023, 2023-2026) at the University of Exeter, UK, where she explores arts-based engagement and creative-practice approaches to public history and people-led stories.

Judith thrives in collaborative, interdisciplinary projects, working across film, stage, visual arts and heritage environments to amplify diverse voices and craft immersive experiences that connect audiences to both contemporary and historical narratives and exploring ways for social change. Recent partnerships and commissions include University of Exeter, University of Plymouth, Historic Royal Palaces, Historic Houses, Exeter Heritage Partnership, Local Touring Theatre Network, Omnibus Theatre and Dr. Johnson's House in London and many more.
