Dr Melisa Moore
Senior Lecturer
Hispanic Studies (ML)
I have been teaching and undertaking research at Exeter since 2003, becoming a Senior Lecturer in 2007. Previously, I spent four years gaining valuable teaching experience and developing my research as a full-time lecturer at the University of Kent (1998-2002), where I also undertook teacher training, obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. This was after completing a PhD, on the Peruvian writer and anthropologist José María Arguedas, at King’s College London and, before this, an MPhil in Latin American Studies at Cambridge University, both generously funded by the British Academy. I undertook an undergraduate degree, a BA Combined Hons in Spanish and Portuguese (First Class), at King’s College London.
My teaching and research have been driven by a deep interest in and strong commitment towards developing knowledge and understanding of the rich diversity and multi-layered nature of Latin American culture, society and history, especially of Peru and the Andean region.
