Modern Languages
Dr Anna Maslenova is a MHRA-funded Visiting Researcher at the Department of Languages, Cultures and Visual Studies. Her PhD project was part of the ERC-funded project ‘The Dark Side of Translation’, and it examined the cultural mediation of Russian spiritual texts in Britain from the mid-19th century to the 1920s. Anna is currently developing her doctoral research into her first book, which investigates British interest in the life stories of Russian spiritual figures as a response to the rapid modernisation and secularisation of Britain during that period.
