Sen Yang is a PhD candidate of the Department of Languages, Cultures and Visual Studies, University of Exeter. His research focuses on the history, theory, and criticism of landscape architecture. Currently, his doctoral project investigates the transformation of landscape discourse in nineteenth- and twentieth-century China across literary texts, visual representations and environmental design. He also maintains an interest in Chinese gardens and landscape theory in a global context.
