Art History and Visual Culture
I recently completed a PhD in Art History and Visual Culture, co-supervised by Dr Tricia Zakreski and Professor John Plunkett. My thesis considered the professionalisation of women illustrators and cartoonists in late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Britain and their relationship to the socio-political and cultural phenomenon of the New Woman. I also looked at the New Woman's visual representation and how women illustrators and cartoonists contributed to this representation.
