Postgraduate Researcher
Art History and Visual Culture

I am a PhD student in the Department of Languages, Cultures, and Visual Studies, and my PhD project focuses on investigating the use of blended learning programmes to support family visitors’ museum learning.

From 2009 to 2012, I received a full scholarship to study for my MA at East China Normal University. My research project was designed to find teaching activities that could combine artistic appreciation and individual creativity in children. After graduating I established a private art studio and started giving lessons specializing in teaching at art museums, mostly in China but also outside of China.  Some of the activities were published in a book in 2018, and this book was rewarded with one of the top effect teachers' professional skills. Other activities will be published in a book in Museums in Chinese in 2025.

I curated three exhibitions of children’s art at key locations in Shanghai city centre between 2013 and 2015. The works of art were produced by children. The exhibitions each opened to the general public for periods ranging from three to five weeks during which time many of the works of art were sold to the visiting public and the monies raised donated to charities.

Since 2021, I have been teaching undergraduate modules, including MLM1052: Beginners Chinese and SML3020: Chinese Speaking Practice, at the Modern Languages and Culture department at the University of Exeter.
